Hosted by Asian Pacific Americans for Action (APAA), Cornell Asian Pacific Islander Student Union (CAPSU), and South Asian Council (SAC), the Asian community came together for a Teach-In, which was designed as an information session and a call to action for our community.
In light of the current events going on nationally, we wanted to grapple with some question: What is our stake in what's happening on our campus, on campuses around us, and in our nation? What does our voice contribute to the concerns of the students at Ithaca College, Mizzou, Yale and beyond, if any? What is the purpose of Asians and Asian Americans becoming involved in the interests of other minorities?
We used the time to learn more about our role as Asian and Asian Americans on our Cornell campus. The presentation also highlighted the history and impact of Asian and Asian American students at Cornell through an exploration of Cornell's campus climate toward students of color and its impacts on the experiences of the Asian and Asian American community. At Cornell, we want to break the stereotype of Asian and Asian American passivism and learn why it's important to stand in solidarity.
Donate today so that students can continue these conversations.
Hi everyone! With the Thanksgiving season around the corner, the Asian and Asian American Center would like to give thanks to all of our supporters. We hope that you can join us in this season of giving by donating to our campaign. Whether it be small or big, the A3C greatly appreciates all your help at this time of year.
We are also excited to announce that we are at our 50% mark! Please help us to continue mobilizing others and spreading the word about A3C's crowdfunding campaign. There are less than 10 days to donate so don't hesitate to pitch in!
Hi everyone! This Friday the A3C and Asian American Studies Program held the last Spam and Eggs breakfast program for this semester! Hosted on the 4th floor of Rockefeller, over 50 students and faculty come and attend this event each month. This has been a great tradition that the A3C and AASP co-host, and it continually proves to be successful. Your donation will help keep this event running. Thanks!
We've hit 25% of our fundraising goal! Thank you so much for the support thus far and we're excited to keep the ball rolling!
This past Friday, the A3C also celebrated Diwali, which is known as the “festival of lights” and celebrates the victory of light over darkness. This day is filled with joy and bonding between everyone. Some of the A3C interns were able to educate others about the festival and share parts of the culture and food that comes with Diwali.
Please donate to continue supporting our Social Hours that make our students feel like they're at home.
Eddie Huang came to Cornell this past Friday and gave a talk titled "Race, Food, and Who We Are." Help us continue our large-scale programming with other student organizations. We want to keep bringing Asian American voices to the stage, and we had such a blast hearing Eddie Huang talk about his book “Fresh Off the Boat”.
This event brought over 400 students that wanted to hear about Eddie Huang’s work in the industry and Asian American representation in the media. We look forward to bringing more people on campus!
We're off to a great start! Thank you to all those who have already donated. Please continue to spread the word about our crowdfunding campaign. We would love to receive support not just from students, but parents, friends, staff and faculty, peer institutions, and anyone else who wants to help us grow! The Asian and Asian American Center appreciates all your support and we are excited to have this crowdfunding project.
