A Home Away From Home

The Asian and Asian American Center (A3C) is a resource and support center for students of Asian descent. Founded on the pillars of identity, education, advocacy, and community, the center serves as a home away from home for both students and student organizations alike. The A3C provides physical spaces for both meetings and studying, hosts a variety of programming ranging from social hours to educational dialogues, works to advocate for the experiences of students of Asian descent, and builds a more inclusive campus community.

The A3C was founded in 2009 thanks to the advocacy efforts of students, faculty, staff, and most importantly our alumni to serve as a space and resource for Asian and Asian American students on campus. Since its creation, the center has grown to support the needs of individual students, student organizations, and campus partners such as the Asian American Studies Program.

The funds raised through this campaign will go towards the following crucial support areas:

Current Programming

Funds will be used to expand current programming, such as:

• A3C After Dark, a dinner and discussion series focusing on topics related to the Asian identity;
• Asian American Studies Program joint events, such as Spam and Eggs, monthly community breakfast, and the Wednesday Lunch Series, a monthly lunch featuring staff/faculty and community leader speakers;
• Social hours and activities, a series for students to relax and get to know each other;
• Welcome Reception, Town Halls, and A3 Graduation.

Co-Sponsorships

A portion of the funds will go towards supporting annual co-sponsorships the A3C facilitates with student organizations such as Asia Night, one of the largest cultural events on campus, and CelebrAsian, an annual banquet to celebrate community achievements and recognize leaders. In addition, the A3C will set aside a portion of the funds to new co-sponsorships with the 80 Asian-affiliated student organizations on campus and for student scholarships to attend national conferences.

New Programs

Lastly, funds will be used to create new programs. The A3C will set aside a portion to help cover honorariums and speaking fees for future speakers and guests and support new student initiatives.
