LGBTQ+ Cornell Vet Student Scholarship: Blazing a Trail

Show your Cornell pride.

Support LGBTQ+ Vet students.

Make your gift to the Anna and Hyman Greenberg Scholarship

to help more LGBTQ+ Cornell Vet students today.

Gifts up to our $10,000 goal will be matched dollar for dollar by

Malcolm Kram, DVM '74 and Mark Zwanger, MD before November 30th.

The time is now. With your help, we can increase the scholarship to help more LGBTQ+ Vet students meet the financial burden of an exceptional Cornell education. Your gift also sends an important message of support to LGBTQ+ students during an unusually unsettled time: you belong at Cornell, and we support your right to bring your whole self to Cornell.

How do you simultaneously blaze a new trail and honor the past?

In 2005, Malcolm Kram, DVM '74, did just that by establishing the first scholarship to benefit LGBTQ+ students at Cornell. He named the Anna and Hyman Greenberg Scholarship, awarded annually to a Cornell Vet student, after his grandparents as a living legacy to the value they placed on education.

Dr. Kram and his husband, Mark Zwanger, MD, carry on Malcolm's grandparents' belief in the importance of education, through their philanthropy and engagement with students. The scholarship remains one of the first at any veterinary college in the US offering this specific type of targeted financial support. But being at the head of the pack is not new for Cornell Vet, perennially among the top veterinary colleges in the world.

As an engaged alumnus, Malcolm found at the Vet College the acceptance he hadn't necessarily experienced when he was a student or in his early career in veterinary medicine. Funding from this scholarship helps alleviate some of the daunting loan debt vet school graduates face. But it also builds community and lets students know that they, too, can be themselves and be accepted, even before they become part of the proud Cornell alumni network.

By joining Malcolm and Mark in supporting this scholarship, you become an ally in maintaining Cornell's continued leadership in higher education and in supporting and encouraging diversity in all its forms.

On behalf of Malcolm and Mark, thank you for joining us in supporting LGBTQ+ students and showing unparalleled Cornell pride.
