On behalf of the eLab teams, the delegates to the CGIU conference, and other Cornell students pursuing entrepreneurship THANK YOU !
Travel, especially during one's college years, provides opportunities for valuable growth - learning about new cultures, working alongside successful entrepreneurs, meeting both like-minded people as well as individuals with new perspectives.
We are now more than half-way through the time allocated for this crowdfunding campaign and I continue to meet students with amazing stories about how travel has made a significant impact on their academic life and projected career path. But unfortunately, not all students are lucky enough to capture these opportunities without financial help. Please share Don Moore's testimonial with your friends and colleagues.
The idea of taking a semester abroad seemed out of reach for me. Being a Biological Engineer on financial aid, I was limited by my rigorous course sequence, as well as my wallet. However, when looking for an internship in tech at the end of my freshman year, I stumbled upon a great opportunity. Sage Corps matches students with international tech startups to offer summer internships abroad. It was a perfect fit for me. I was accepted into the Buenos Aires cohort, and I couldn’t have been happier. Although I had to fund the experience myself, I spent an unbelievable eight weeks working for a startup real estate portal, enjoying Argentine culture, and living among an amazing group of students from other universities. I’ve since applied analytical skills that I gained during this experience to other jobs, and continued to keep in touch with the people I met abroad. I hope that funds like the Entrepreneurship at Cornell “Fuel Entrepreneurship Pursuits” crowdsourcing campaign can allow more students to pursue abroad opportunities similar to mine.

“It has been a truly inspirational experience to be in the presence of so many powerhouse entrepreneurs dedicated to their passion and purpose! One of the pieces of advice I appreciated was what Robert Nardelli said about taking advantage of all opportunities provided - that horizontal promotions can provide the important foundation needed for successful vertical promotions. Relating to my Cornell experience and current entrepreneurial journey, it’s assuring to see how my diverse experiences can actually serve as leverage for my future entrepreneurial endeavors.” – Imani Majied, founder Everybody Eats, who traveled among a busload of students from the Ithaca campus to attend Summit in NYC on November 9th.
“Coming to New York City and pitching to a room full of alumni, investors, and potential mentors was an invaluable experience.” - Kyle Johnson MBA ’19, co-founder Incite, one of 15 eLab teams connecting with potential mentors on November 8th.
"I was so inspired by what young people around the world do, with the wisdom of the Clinton family --- 'Optimism is a moral choice'. "- Ghali Jorio, founder of the Moroccan Youth Social Entrepreneurs Camp, Cornell delegate to the 2018 Clinton Global Initiative University conference. Read his full story published by HUFFPOST.
