About the Program
Cornell University's Young Researchers Program is a new organization that designs a program for high schoolers to conduct research at Cornell and make an impact on the Ithaca community. Our program provides students with an incredible opportunity to participate in research at a top research institution. Students are paired with a Cornell undergraduate or graduate mentor, attend science communications classes, and participate in dinner discussions with professors. During this program, high school students will learn fundamental research techniques, practice scientific writing, and become immersed in scientific culture. Upon completion of the program, students prepare and present a scientific poster at a symposium, where parents, professors, mentors, and the Ithaca community can attend to see the work of the students.
In Fall 2018, we plan on expanding our program to be year-long and pairing 30 high school students with 30 mentors at Cornell. We will host 2 dinner discussions with professors each month. At the end of the year, each student will be able to present their research to judges and have the chance to win prizes for all of their hard work!
Why Your Donation Matters
To achieve this goal of expansion, we truly need your help. Your donation funds our symposium event, laboratory materials, dinner discussions with professors and other costs. Altogether, these additions will bring a much more comprehensive and meaningful experience to our young scientists, encouraging and intensifying the passion for STEM among them and their peers. Therefore, any donation, big or small, is really appreciated!
Your donation will allow us to provide a meal for every high school student in the program! This will go towards our dinner discussions fund.
