Society of Women Engineers

Who we are

The undergraduate chapter of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) at Cornell was established on November 9, 1972, and has been active on campus ever since. Today, we are the largest student organization within the Cornell Duffield College of Engineering! Consisting of over 200 active members, SWE has 18 executive board members who lead eight directorships, including outreach, career development, and corporate relations. 

What we do

As an organization, we advocate for the importance of diversity and equal access to resources to achieve academic, leadership, professional, and personal excellence. Annually, our SWE members contribute countless volunteer hours to the local community. Whether we are hosting coding days with Girl Scouts or offering resume reviews, we look forward to these events throughout the year and we love seeing the impact they have on our community.

Why give?

Each year, we attend the national SWE conference. In 2020, our chapter received several awards, most notably the Mission Awards for Collegiate Gold and Best Practice-Membership Retention & Engagement. We won Collegiate Gold in 2021, Silver in 2022, 2024, and 2025, and Bronze in 2023. With your support, we can expand our leadership and professional skills, develop connections with chapters all over the country, and inspire future engineers and leaders.
