Description

CSalt Project Team at Cornell University

We believe innovative technology can help address some of the world’s most pressing environmental challenges. Our student-led team develops solutions that responsibly harness natural resources while promoting long-term environmental and societal sustainability.

CSalt’s newest initiative addresses coral reef bleaching by combining wave energy, solar power, and mineral accretion technology into a single protective system. The design centers on floating, expandable tiles equipped with solar panels. These tiles are intended to filter coral reefs from the sun’s harmful rays, a key driver of coral bleaching, while converting the motion of the waves into electrical power.

Our team also competes in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Marine Energy Collegiate Competition (MECC), traveling to Oregon to showcase our designs, connect with industry professionals, and compete against universities nationwide.

As a registered student organization, we are committed to equal access to all of our programs and do not discriminate based on any protected identity status.
