Description

Support our XR projects!

Who are we?

Cornell Extended Reality (XR) is a student-run project team at Cornell University, founded in spring 2024, that builds software, hardware, and games for virtual, augmented, and mixed reality and human-computer interaction (HCI).

We take work that has mostly lived in academic labs and turn it into projects with real-world applications. Along the way, our members gain the hands-on skills the XR industry is looking for. Our team is collaborative and ambitious, and it gives undergraduates a place to build ambitious projects in a field that creates experiences that blend the digital and physical worlds.

How can you help?

We’re raising $5000  to expand what our projects can do. Better equipment means we can train models faster, build higher-quality demos, and produce stronger results. Your support would go toward:

  • EEG (electroencephalogram) Brain-Computer Interface Equipment that allows work within an open-source ecosystem and grants high-resolution signal acquisition
  • Game development assets that allow for higher-quality demos.
  • Paying for compute access to train LLMs and vision models.
  • Motors, sensors, and fabrication materials that allow for more reliable, refined hardware for our exoskeleton.
  • Custom Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) for our projects!
  • And much more!

Level design of an early demo created by our Game Development Subteam.

EEG-based control system for VR navigation using the Muse 2 Headband.

Physical prototype of our Exoskeleton's arm.

Development of a haptic glove and its force feedback mechanism.

Why support us?

Our goal is to push the XR and Haptics space forward with experiences and devices we design and build ourselves. With your support, we can bring these projects to research conferences and professional events.

We design and build most of our hardware devices that interface with our software from scratch. Every upgrade lets us take on bigger problems and gives our members experience they can’t get from coursework alone. Whatever you can give, thank you for helping us build what’s next.

As a registered student organization, we are committed to equal access to all of our programs and do not discriminate based on any protected identity status.
