Description
This semester, our team is focused on competing in the International Aerial Robotics Competition (IARC), where we are developing a swarm of four lightweight, fully autonomous drones controlled through hand gestures. These drones will scout an area for landmines, avoid obstacles, and return to land before generating a map of detected hazards and a safe path through the area. This project pushes the boundaries of autonomous drone technology while exploring real-world applications in aerial robotics.
Alongside IARC, we are pursuing several research and development projects, including an agricultural spraying hexacopter, an ultralight long-endurance surveillance octocopter, and an ultra-high-speed drone. These projects explore advancements in drone efficiency, endurance, and performance, with applications ranging from agriculture to aerial monitoring.
We are also continuing our efforts toward the ambitious goal of breaking the Guinness World Record for drone speed, with a record-breaking attempt planned for next semester. Through collaboration across our subteams, extensive testing, and innovative engineering, we are determined to push the limits of high-speed flight and bring this vision to life.
Our team is divided into Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, and Business subteams. Each unit brings unique expertise, making us not just a team of skilled engineers and strategists, but also a close-knit community of friends who share a passion for innovation in aerial robotics.
Our goal is to excel in aerial robotics by designing, building, and flying advanced drones that tackle complex engineering challenges. We are passionate about pushing the boundaries of what is possible through ambitious, student-led projects and collaboration.
Our rigorous schedule includes weekly meetings and work sessions where subteams focus on specialized tasks, while full-team gatherings ensure unity and coordination. Beyond technical work, we host regular social events that foster strong team spirit and a supportive environment crucial to our collective success.
With a commitment to innovation, collaboration, and excellence, we encourage creativity and provide our members the freedom to explore ambitious, cutting-edge projects.
As a registered student organization, we are committed to equal access to all of our programs and do not discriminate based on any protected identity status.
