Hack4Impact? What's that?
Hack4Impact exists for both nonprofits and students. Bridging technology and social impact, we connect student designers and developers to socially responsible organizations across the world, offering tech-based solutions for social change. At Hack4Impact, we believe in using tech for good.
In today’s tech-based world, we can use our skillset to instill change in all parts of the world. With this larger reach, we are committed to increasing awareness of technology’s potential for nuanced and meaningful change. We are incredibly grateful for our nonprofit partners, and we strive to spread their missions along with ours to expand the scope of our projects. Through showcases, panels, and workshops, we hope to connect with more passionate individuals and offer our services to nonprofit partners for years to come.
Our design process
Each semester, we work with non-profits that have the opportunity to build a great product that solves a core need, generally in relation to their mission statements. We work in small groups led by a product manager and technical lead to scope and develop the application, taking into account our clients’ requirements and suggestions, and making the most of our technical, design, and business skills to create a product that can be used for social good.
Our work
This semester, we have six projects spanning four sectors of social impact: ReThink Food, Cornell H4I Endowment Manager, Alaska Children’s Trust, MedSimAI, MedExplain Health, and Intermember Archive. Whether it be through an app educating children in Alaska about online safety, or tracking and simulating medical procedures online for students, all our projects work to address problem spaces in each organization's respective focus.
