Autonomous Sailboat Club at Cornell
Cornell Autonomous Sailboat Team
Who are we?
CUSail is a registered student organization at Cornell University dedicated to designing and manufacturing an autonomous sailboat that competes in the SailBot International Robotic Sailboat Regatta. Our long-term vision is to build a fleet of autonomous sailboats capable of independently navigating the world's oceans to collect critical oceanic research.
With over 40 passionate members from diverse disciplines, we combine cutting-edge technology, advanced mechanical design, and real-world problem-solving to engineer a smarter, faster, and more capable boat each year. CUSail offers students the unique opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge to innovative, hands-on engineering challenges.
Why should you donate to CUSail?
This past year, our team excitingly won first place at the International SailBot Competition, competing against teams from around the world. As we continue to innovate and push the boundaries of autonomous marine technology, your support is essential.
This semester, we are hosting the SailBot competition here at Cornell, which is a huge milestone for our team and community. Your generosity will directly contribute to:
- Hosting and organizing the competition
- Enhancing our technology and improving our boats
- Maintaining our fleet and testing new designs
- Inspiring the next generation of engineers and innovators
Building an autonomous sailboat is a challenging yet deeply rewarding endeavor. With your help, we can continue to explore the possibilities of ocean robotics and move closer to our vision of collecting data across the globe to help research endeavors that could have positive impacts on the world.
Together, we can sail toward a smarter, more sustainable future.
As a registered student organization, we are committed to equal access to all of our programs and do not discriminate based on any protected identity status.
$5
Crew Member
A $5 donation allows us to connect our boat to cellular service for telemetry and command sending.
$10
Deckhand
A $10 donation helps cover the cost of all the harnessing and wiring within our boat.
$50
Boatswain
A $50 donation covers the cost of our boat's hardware, such as our sail and ballast.
$100
First Mate
A $100 donation can fund the travel, food, and lodging expenses to send a member to our annual competition!
$500
Captain
A $500 donation will allow us to buy top-of-the-line GPS and IMU sensors, which will improve our autonomous algorithms!
