Who are we?

Founded in spring 2024, we (Cornell XR Team) are a team of undergraduate students at Cornell University exploring and creating software, hardware, games for Virtual, Augmented, Mixed Reality, and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). We bridge the gap between what used to be mainly academic projects and industry application, equipping students with the practical, in-demand skills needed for this rapidly growing field. We foster a collaborative environment where students can develop groundbreaking projects and work in an area that may become more prominent in the future.

How you can help?

We work on a variety of projects, but a major one is our full haptics system that features multiple devices such as a force-feedback arm, olfactory display, haptic gloves and a brain-computer interface that can make your XR experience more realistic. While these projects are still being prototyped, they will come to life over the next six months with your help. These projects will provide you with real-time feedback on your XR experience, such as releasing special scents or adding forces to your arm.

We are unique among project teams for designing and building most of our devices from scratch. We are confident that these projects will set us up for success, and we appreciate your help in the process. We also have projects working on smart glasses and various other VR software experiences that aim to create tangential benefits for society. For example, smart glasses that can scan and save documents for you or a collaborative architectural editor to evaluate scale in designs. With your help, we can fund these projects with new materials, better tools, and also allow us to upgrade our equipment. We started this team as a club off of donated old VR headsets and computers, and are in dire need of an upgrade.
