About Us

The team

Cornell AutoBoat is a student-led engineering team focused on advancing naval architecture and marine robotics through hands-on innovation. Composed of undergraduate students from diverse majors and from three colleges, the team dedicates each year to researching, designing, and building an autonomous boat capable of motion planning, object detection, and performing simple robotic tasks. Competing annually in RoboNation’s international RoboBoat competition in Sarasota, FL, Cornell AutoBoat provides members with the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world engineering challenges. Our students engage in a fast-paced work environment while also making lifelong connections with incredible people. This experience not only hones their technical skills but also prepares them for impactful careers in the marine and robotics industries.

Support

We compete in the international RoboBoat competition organized by RoboNation. In March 2025, for AutoBoat’s third-ever in-person competition, we placed second in nationally and fifth internationally. This incredible achievement could not have been made possible without the support of our donors.

This annual event brings together teams from around the world to showcase advancements in autonomous maritime systems. RoboBoat 2025 featured 27 teams representing nine countries: Canada, Egypt, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Norway, Poland, Türkiye, and the United States and Puerto Rico.

Will you support our mission as we push the boundaries of maritime autonomy on the global stage?

As a registered student organization, we are committed to equal access to all of our programs and do not discriminate based on any protected identity status.
