Our goal - Help us win Cornell Racing’s 10th championship!

Cornell’s Formula SAE Team was established in 1987. For the past 38 years, we’ve designed, built, and tested Formula One-style racecars. Starting as a small team of a dozen students, we’ve grown our student-run organization to 60 members across ten subteams. As a nine-time World Champion in the combustion era, Cornell Racing is living up to its legacy in the electric vehicle era. Last year, Cornell Racing took on the challenge of implementing four wheel drive with our first pouch cell battery pack controlled by our first custom BMS. 

This year’s vehicle, ARG26, is undergoing several significant design improvements. Focusing on optimization and testing, ARG26 will continue to use a four wheel drive architecture. With improved powertrain packaging, regenerative braking, and launch control, ARG26 delivers smoother acceleration and greater on-track performance.

On the chassis side, we’re improving aerodynamics integration and reducing weight with a more refined monocoque design. For increased reliability, our suspension is implementing system blade-adjustable U-bars. 

Needless to say, our team has made incredible progress in the first few months of school, and we’re looking for your help to get us across the finish line! 

Our teamwork and experience

The team is formed of 60 students across a variety of majors and backgrounds. We believe that each student offers a unique perspective to the project. Our vehicle is the result of our diverse skill sets and a shared passion for the team. During the semester, members individually spend at least 20 hours weekly designing, building, and tuning the car.

For the month of January, team members forgo their winter breaks and return to Ithaca, New York, to manufacture the car and prepare for the upcoming competition in the summer. Additionally, over the summer months, up to a quarter of the team remains on campus to prepare for the following season.

Cornell Racing offers an unrivaled learning experience that allows engineers to take their learning beyond the lecture hall. Each member has a specific area of ownership: a part of the car for which they are solely responsible. Being the lead engineer of their project encourages students to overcome any technical and collaborative roadblocks. The finished vehicle is a testament to the team’s incredible work ethic and the dedication of each part designer.
