Who We Are
Cornell University ChemE Car is a student-run team passionate about building model cars powered entirely by chemical reactions. Since our founding in 2004, we’ve achieved multiple first-place wins at the AIChE Regional and National Conferences, showcasing the strength and creativity of Cornell Engineering. Each year, our team of fifty students collaborates to build, test, and compete with innovative, reaction-driven vehicles.
What We Do
Our team works in dedicated sub-teams, each focusing on a crucial component of the car, from power source and stopping mechanism to structural design and control systems. Throughout the year, we research, design, build, and calibrate these components to create a car that can transport a variable load across unknown distances—a challenge that demands flexibility and precision. Right now, we’re preparing for the Northeast Regional Conference in the spring, excited to push our skills, knowledge, and teamwork to new levels.
Why Give
Your support helps us turn ideas into reality. Donations cover the costs of critical parts like suspension, gears, and safety features, ensuring our car is competition-ready and able to perform at its best. Every gift helps us continue this hands-on work in chemical engineering and keeps Cornell ChemE Car at the forefront of sustainable innovation.
Will you help us build the future of chemical engineering by supporting Cornell ChemE Car?
Helps cover the cost of essential safety components like bumpers to protect our car and team during testing.
Funds our suspension system, ensuring smoother operation and stability on the track.
Provides for the gears that power our car’s movement, critical for consistent and reliable performance.
Supports the purchase and installation of precise pedals for better control and handling.
Contributes to high-quality materials and equipment for efficient car mechanics, boosting our team’s competitive edge.
