Men's Soccer

As I look back on what has transpired over that period, I do so with a great deal of pride, satisfaction, and a strong sense of hope and optimism for what is to come. Sixty-two wins in seven seasons is impressive whichever way you spin it—especially considering we only won one game in our first season—but that would only tell a small portion of the tale and would not highlight what truly makes this program special.

It's the people that make our environment special. To be successful in anything you need sturdy foundations—strong shoulders to stand on—people to rely on when the going is tough. Each year, as a new class of soccer players enters the program, they do so with the relief they have incredible coattails to hang on to—teammates who will pull them over their shoulders and light the way. In turn, as one group enters, another group leaves, and they do so with backpacks filled with knowledge, fortitude, grit, and a whole host of things they learned within the program that will prepare them for success outside the comfy confines of Cornell University. This, in my opinion, is what a successful journey looks like for a Cornell Men’s Soccer player.

To create an environment like this you need love and support. Since my arrival here I have continually found myself overwhelmed by the generosity and affection shown by so many alumni and friends of the program. I am continually humbled by the genuineness and the sheer depth of passion shown towards us by so many, and for that, we all want to say a huge thank you. Gifts allow us to continue competing and thriving in the upper echelon of Division 1 men’s soccer. They certainly go a long way toward helping keep us in the argument for the best team in the league, and one of the top programs in the nation.
