Rowing

Cornell Rowing continues to build its great tradition. The tradition of building character, and creating opportunities. The opportunity is for more than just yourself, it is to help the team. This is true on the water and in the classroom. The Cornell Rowing tradition continues to provide the challenge of achieving excellence at so many levels, and the end product becomes individuals and teams who are forever interconnected by the work and results they achieve. 

We are trying to teach not only the technical skills of rowing—the catch, finish, feather, and square—but also important life lessons: how to train at a high level, manage time, have fun, and be part of a team! Rowing deals with constant challenges that come with failures and setbacks that must be worked through. These are all opportunities to learn to be stronger, learn to overcome, and succeed! 

This spring, we are all looking forward to displaying new strength in terms of boat speed. April is the month of races, with all teams booked. We hope to see you at one of the many stops along the spring race circuit. The athletes have done a lot of work in anticipation of those races. 

Giving enables us to have special experiences throughout our season, like our Florida training trip, where we spend 10 days in Orlando, FL, and get to focus solely on rowing. It also allows us to have a top-notch fleet of rowing shells. Philanthropy has allowed our program to completely transform and upgrade our facilities. We now have one of the best rowing facilities in the country (if not the world). For that reason, we are forever grateful for our alumni and friends of Big Red Rowing.
