The Cornell University Wind Symphony unites a diverse group of individuals who share a commitment to collaboration and excellent music-making. This auditioned ensemble is open to all members of the Cornell campus community, and most of our 55 members have majors other than music. In addition to our on-campus performance, foster cultural awareness, global citizenship, and service through community-engaged performance tours.
In January 2024, the Wind Symphony will embark on a ten-day community-engaged performance tour of Cuba. The tour is co-produced by Ned Sublette, author of Cuba and Its Music, and is designed to foster ongoing, reciprocal partnerships with numerous individuals and organizations, both on campus and in Cuba. Our primary partner is the National Concert Band of Cuba, directed by Maestro Igor Ernesto Corcuera Cáceres.
Wind Symphony alumni have cited our tours of Haiti and the Dominican Republic (2017, 2019) as the most impactful experiences of their Cornell careers. We need your support to continue these valuable tours.
Please, help us support Cornell’s mission to discover, preserve and disseminate knowledge, and to educate the next generation of global citizens.
