The President's Council of Cornell Women (PCCW) was founded in 1990 by then-President Frank H.T. Rhodes with the guiding leadership of trustees Lilyan Affinito '53 and Patricia Carry Stewart '50. PCCW is a group of highly accomplished alumni working to enhance the involvement of women students, faculty, staff and alumni as leaders within Cornell University and its many communities.
In 2013-2014, PCCW introduced the PCCW Current Use Fund to supplement the useable money generated by its endowments each year. Gifts to the PCCW Current Use Fund can be spent in “real time” in the same or immediately following fiscal year. The PCCW Steering Committee directs how the money in this fund will be spent each year, guided by current needs and consistency with PCCW’s overall mission.
The funds collected in the PCCW Current Use Fund through June 30, 2023, will be used to augment the money available from the Affinito-Stewart Grants endowed fund to make grants in Cornell's fiscal year 2024 to junior women faculty under consideration for tenure. This is a critical need given the increased number of deserving applications received by the PCCW Grants Committee from junior women faculty (recently including those from Weill Cornell Medical College) and the increasing amount of money required to be able to make meaningful, impactful grants.
