Cornell Racing is Cornell University’s Formula SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) team that designs, manufactures, tests, and races a formula-style racecar. From our humble origins of twelve engineers in 1986, Cornell Racing has grown to a diverse group of 65 students spanning multiple colleges and majors. These students all have one thing in common: a commitment to excellence. Cornell Racing is one of the most formidable teams in the world with an unparalleled nine World Championship titles at the FSAE Michigan Competition.
Impact Our Project — Cornell Racing is a student-run project team that relies heavily on donations to complete our project. Without contributions like yours, our team would not be able to manufacture our car, let alone improve on our design from year to year. By supporting our team, you will be providing us with the resources to invest in new lab equipment, research projects, and the materials we need to succeed.
Impact Our Students — Our team works throughout the year to manufacture Cornell Racing’s premier racecar. Some of the nation’s best and most dedicated students commit thousands of hours to produce our entry to the FSAE competition. The process of designing and building our car teaches students how to integrate theoretical concepts with practical applications in a way that no course can replicate.
Impact Our Community — As members of the Cornell and Ithaca communities, our team frequently participates in, and even leads, outreach programs. Our most recent events include local science fairs, STEM nights, SWE tours, Cornell Employee Day, and Cornell Homecoming. By impacting Cornell Racing you will have an influence on more than just the team; you will have a direct effect on our surrounding community as well.
Cornell Racing is making great strides to produce the fastest, most innovative racecar possible. This year’s racecar, ARG15, will be our best vehicle yet. We plan to implement a 3/4 carbon fiber monocoque with a steel space frame engine bay which will greatly increase the car’s serviceability. At the heart of our powertrain system will be a turbocharged 2007 Honda CBR600RR engine with custom cooling, lubrication, fuel, and flow systems. With our modified 3-speed sequential transmission, which utilizes a pneumatic shifter, our drivers will achieve gear shifts in a mere 0.2 seconds. Our aerodynamics package will sport composite front wings, rear wings, and side pods to improve the car’s dynamic stability at high speeds. As our design phase comes to a close, we are looking to secure the resources we need to make these ideas become a reality. With your support, ARG15 will dominate the track!

Formula SAE is a student engineering competition that started over three decades ago. It has evolved from one race a year in the United States to a multinational competition with events held throughout the United States, Germany, Australia, Canada, and other countries around the globe. The largest event is held at the Michigan International Speedway each May with over 120 international teams. The competition involves two types of events: dynamic and static. The dynamic events consist of four races (acceleration, skidpad, autocross, and endurance) and evaluate the actual performance of the car. The static events measure the team’s design, marketing, financial, and management abilities. By evaluating all of these metrics, Formula SAE requires the brightest collegiate engineers to collaborate and construct an innovative, cutting-edge car that pushes the limits of racing technology further each year.
