Please Support Cornell Cinema on Giving Day, Tuesday, March 20, 2018

March 16, 2018

Greetings from Cornell Cinema!

As some of you know, despite strong opposition, the Student Assembly voted to defund Cornell Cinema this past Fall. Cornell's College of Arts & Sciences, with assistance from the Office of the Provost, has agreed to provide bridge funding for one year to enable the organization to fund raise & restructure for the future. We truly appreciate the support you provided in the past and hope you'll consider making another donation to Cornell Cinema on Tuesday, March 20 as part of Cornell's Giving Day (a 24-hour endeavor). Your gift will help sustain one of the oldest continuously-run film societies in the United States - https://givingday.cornell.edu/campaigns/cornell-cinema Donations of any size will be welcome, but we encourage students to consider a gift of $25 or more, and non-students, a gift of $50 or more. If you can't donate on Tuesday, March 20, you can always visit cinema.cornell.edu and click on the donate tab to make a gift at another time. But we'd love (and need) to make a strong showing on Tuesday. #CornellGivingDay

Thanks in advance for your support!

Mary Fessenden, Director

We just made our goal of $10,000! Thank you so much to everyone for donating and helping us secure our Capital Equipment Grant from the New York State Council on the Arts!

Up next is getting official bids from contractors and then ordering and installing the equipment!

Looking forward to programming a 3D festival in the Fall - more details to follow!

Thank you again!

What will we show in 3D?

November 22, 2016

We're 2/3 of the way to our goal! Thank you to everyone who has donated to our campaign so far! There is just over a week left to go and I think we can do it.

If you're curious to know what movies we might show with our new digital 3D equipment, I suggest taking a look at the lineup of films currently screening at the venerable Film Forum in NYC: http://filmforum.org/series/3d-auteurs-series

It's a great mix of contemporary 3D films with new restorations of older 3D films that have gone largely unseen since initial release. We're looking forward to bringing a number of these titles to town, but we can only do it if we can fund our project! Please help spread the word!

Thank you,

-Douglas McLaren
