Proud history, uncertain future
For more than a century, Cornell track and field and cross country (TFXC) athletes have stood atop the podium in some of the sporting world’s most hallowed venues. We have worn the “C” proudly en route to Heptagonal titles, national championships, and Olympic gold. Decades after our last event, that pride stays with us as we recognize our part in the program’s storied history and our role in maintaining its legacy.
Today, TFXC programs across the country are threatened by financial uncertainty across higher education. Our team members work as hard as ever, balancing the demands of training, practice, and competition, with the rigors of an Ivy League curriculum. They do this because they know what you know: being a member of this team is a transformative experience that propels them to success long after their final intercollegiate competition. The pursuit of excellence, and the expectations that come with it, prepare our team members to be leaders of their industry and community.
There is no denying that maintaining this experience comes with great expense, but we believe this it's an experience worthy of investment. As you reflect on your years on the team, please consider making a gift that helps ensures our program continues to not only exist, but competes at the highest level. If you're disconnected from the Big Red TFXC family, we hope you'll jump back in. We ARE family and no matter how long you've been away, we're always ready to welcome you back.
Sincerely,
Coach Adrian Durant
Coach Mike Henderson
