Support Cornell's LGBTQ+ Community: Make Loving House a Home

Loving House: the LGBTQ+ Living Learning Unit  is North Campus's newest program house that provides a safe community for students of both LGBTQIA+ status and allies. The Loving House is a space of inclusivity that aims to provide students with a comfortable living environment to connect and bond over shared experiences through community-building activities and events. We facilitate conversations amongst all students about identities, diversity, inclusivity, and queerness in general.

The Loving House was created through student advocacy with the explicit intention of providing a home and intellectually stimulating space for students passionate about the LGBTQIA+ and allied student experience. Our residents have already made the Loving House community into a family. However, every family needs a home, and right now ours could use some work! With your support, we can transform Loving House into a home! Add a lamp here, a bean bag over there, and maybe a mural over there and we’re well on our way! Your donations will also help transform our kitchen into space where can cook meals for themselves or for the entire community.

In addition to the physical items we're looking to transform the space, with your donations we will also be able to further develop and educate our community in the form of programming. With these, we hope to further foster a community and educate a new generation of LGBTQIA+ people and allies with knowledge of our past so that they can have a more profound understanding of their own background. We have various awesome activities planned, and we’d love it if you helped us make these come to fruition. Some exciting activities we have planned are LGBTQ+ History Trivia with Planned Parenthood, a trip to Niagara Falls and Dine and Dialogue series. Another facet of living in Loving House is that we love having guest speakers from LGBTQIA+ backgrounds. Our residents have loved meeting our guest speakers, and we’d love for you to help us bring in more! With your help, we’re hoping to make Loving House a home!

$15

Resources & Literature

It is important that Loving House provides both residents, the larger LGBTQ+ community, and allies resources about the histories, and narratives of this community.

$25

Decorations and Artwork

This allows us to distinguish the space from other housing units, through artwork, which reflects the unique identities represented within the Loving House and the greater LGBTQ+ community. Additionally, you can help create a functional and welcoming space for our community on campus.

$50

Kitchen & Appliances

Food security on campus poses stress to both the LGBTQ+ community and the larger Cornell undergraduate population. A donation of $50 or more, will ease the stress on our residents, who do not have access to dining halls or meal plans, as we provide kitchenware appliances bakeware, dishes, and pans.

$75

Programming & Events

Programs we put on, such as family dinners and bringing in queer alumni to serve as mentors and confidants, requires the purchasing of food and supplies to promote the success of the event. A donation of $75 allows us to do this, with room for exploration in advertising and production.

$100

Furniture

A donation of $100 would support the purchasing of new furniture that will create a unique identity for the Loving House. This will provide a space of pride, for social gatherings, both organized and quotidian. It is important that this community has a space to come to that is safe, inviting and gives a feeling of home.
