Chamber Singers Nantucket Residency

Our Ensemble

The Cornell University Chamber Singers is an audition-based mixed-voice chamber choir that strives to explore the limits of the choral soundscape and to share quality music with people throughout Cornell and the greater Ithaca area. We are comprised of undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and staff, and members of the Ithaca community. Learn more about the singers on our Members page.

Music and Mission

The group focuses on both early music and contemporary music, and enjoys collaboration with other musicians and ensembles, such as Cornell's Early Music Lab. We make art together by going beyond the technical challenges on the page, and pushing each other to read music bravely and professionally.

The Chamber Singers hold one concert per semester, usually in Sage Chapel or Anabel Taylor Hall. Our most recent performances include The Waking Sun (April 2019), Evensong (November 2018), Music in a Time of War (April 2018), and Re-formation (November 2017). More information on these concerts, and other past events, can be found on our Events page

Mahalo! Thank you for supporting our Cultural Exchange in Maui, HI.

As an extension of Cornell University, the Chamber Singers seek to forge and maintain meaningful ties with people beyond the Ithaca community. In August of 2018 we embarked on our first tour: a weeklong cultural exchange in Maui, where we gave two concerts, including a collaborative performance of Haydn’s Harmoniemesse with the Maui Chamber Orchestra and Choir. Learn more about our trip on our Tours page.

This Project

After our successful cultural exchange in Maui, we are delighted to announce an August 2019 trip to Nantucket, MA. We look forward to learning about the history of the island, rehearsing a varied and exciting repertoire, and performing in beautiful and historic spaces. We need your help to make this trip possible!
