Free Professional Attire, For All Cornellians. The Wardrobe aims to provide free professional attire to Cornell students so they can be confident in professional settings. Our three pillars have been confidence, equality, and accessibility.
How We Started
In 2017, we surveyed 96 students.
The results were astounding:
64% have felt underdressed at an interview or information session
34% did not attend an interview or information session because of a lack of professional clothing
Of those without proper attire, 50% were limited by cost constraints and 50% by time and place.
The lack of professional clothing does not discriminate across gender and graduation year.
These results have been verified to be statistically significant by Cornell University Statistician and Professor Cindy Van Es.
Customer Value Proposition
The Wardrobe aims to address the lack of professional clothing for Cornell students by providing attire available to rent at no cost.
Our Business Model
Our solution combines two different models to meet the needs of a diverse population -- a pop-up shop and rental system.
The Next Steps
We are hoping to further build our inventory to address the professional clothing needs of all students on Cornell's campus, so any student can pursue any opportunity. Your gift will allow us to continue to create a foundation for students to have equal opportunities to benefit from Cornell's extraordinary education.
