With your help, we have finished our campaign and surpassed our crowdfunding goal of $15,000! Through the support of 144 generous donors, Engineers Without Borders Cornell has raised $16,541. That’s 110% of our original goal! This support will allow us to purchase high-quality materials to build our bridge and help the villagers of Calcha, Bolivia. Currently, we are preparing for our implementation trip to Calcha and beginning to purchase the materials needed to build this bridge. This implementation trip is scheduled for June 2016 and we are looking forward to a successful trip with lasting impact. Thank you again for your continuous support!
Thank you to all our donors for helping us reach over 95% of our goal. We have raised over $14,500 and still have 11 days left in our campaign. We are excited to finish strong!
Since our launch, we have finalized the list of material vendors and have started calculating the exact quantities of certain materials needed now that our design is finalized. We are currently working on optimizing our design in order to make it as efficient to build as possible. We are scheduled to compile all of our calculations and design drawings to have a full review with our professional mentor, Johann Zimmermann. From here, our next steps are to fill out the necessary forms for Engineers Without Borders-USA’s approval. We are also in the process of forming a team to travel this summer for six weeks to Calcha, Bolivia.
With your help, we can build this bridge and empower Cornell engineering students by giving them the opportunity to apply their engineering knowledge beyond the classroom environment. Thank you again for your generous support!

The cable tubing is a rubber casing that goes over the cable to reduce friction as the cable runs over the towers and around the anchor.
The rebar with be used to reinforce the concrete towers and anchors that hold up the bridge.
One of the most important pieces of the bridge, these clamps ensure the cables that suspend the deck of the bridge stay taught. We need 64 to complete the bridge!
With $250, we can purchase 6”x8” wood cross beams for the bridge that the decking will be placed on top of.
We need this in order to tighten the many tons of steel cable to an acceptable level of sag in order for the bridge to support the required load.
With $1,000, we will be able to purchase the wood decking for the entire 50 meter bridge.
With $2,000, we will be able to power all of equipment necessary to build this bridge.
